A cohort nobody in it has met
An attachment to a large group defined by a shared period, held from the inside, with no member of it able to represent it.
The abstract absolute is met by negating what it is rather than petitioning anybody, and a generational cohort is its secular form. It has no character, cannot be addressed, and is defined entirely by what its members are not - and every individual in it is simultaneously one of its members and unable to act on its behalf. The tie is to a position rather than a person, which is why the reciprocity question does not have a useful answer here.
