One person on your own television, in your own town, for twenty years, who is leaving and everybody is upset.
Rubin's longitudinal work is on exactly this bond. When a local anchor retires the grief is measurable and there is no word for it, because a parasocial relationship with a local figure is assumed to be about the news rather than about the person.
