She received correspondence by the sackful and answered it by name, individually, for years. The closest thing the twentieth century produced to a genuinely reciprocal parasocial relationship.
The proof that reciprocity is possible and therefore a choice, not a law of nature. Every subsequent complaint that the parasocial relationship has no reply is answering a question she had already settled.
